Turning Point is a coffee shop in Gading Serpong area, which literally gonna make you turn (your car) around because you were unaware of the small sign and drove past it. Although the sign may be petite and hidden, this small coffee shop is a real hidden gem. Once you step into the Turning Point coffee shop, you will feel the warm ambience right away.
At the entrance, the natural daylight beaming through the big window combines with the soft yellow lighting inside. The minimalist design complemented by the chic woody chairs and tables in mild color palettes, embraces you with a rustic warmth.
However, their backyard gives a totally different vibe when you step outside. Dominated with grey color, their backyard beams a clean and monochromatic feel. Their canopy creates beautiful line shadows effect and it’s sooooo Instagenic. This backyard allows customers to bring their pet along while enjoying a sip of coffee.
If you ever find it hard to get a cute mating partner for that furball of yours, please do come and let your baby furball mingles. And if you ever find yourself hard to get a partner for you, please just close your bedroom door, turn the light off, wrap yourself up with blanket, and weep yourself to sleep [Kidding, come here, too! It’s such a good place to have coffee and mingle. Who knows your soulmate might be sitting by the window waiting for you!
Now, moving on to the main attraction of the coffee shop, a.k.a MENU! We ordered hot cappuccino (IDR 35k), hot chai + milk (IDR 25k) and an Apple pie by Lareia cake (IDR 50k). I never like adding sugar to my coffee because it can ruin the original taste, I like it strong, full of taste (non-watery), and not bitter like my type of men.
Not an expert in coffee tasting, but a friend of mine (A CERTIFIED BARISTA!) said that a good cappuccino should taste (a little bit) sweet even without added sugar and Turning Point’s cappuccino is as perfect as my type of men (I mean *coffee ) with that hint of sweet taste. However, as it is owned by an ex-Melbournian barista [she used to work at Market Lane!], it still has the signature Melbournian coffee which is a tad more acidic than typical coffees. According to my friend, her hot chai + milk drink tasted okay, but it was better the other day. This one tasted less creamy and the herbs weren’t that rich, although she liked the right amount of sweetness.
Our highlight of the day: the APPLE PIE tasted so good that we metaphorically died, went to heaven, got sent back, ate another bite, died again, went to back to heaven, got sent back again, ate another bite and it’s a never-ending cycle. OH, both of us loved the perfect combination of creamy custard-like top and soft yet crunchy apple chunks. It took us less than 3 minutes to devour the apple pie, we could actually finish it under a minute but we decided to enjoy every bite slowly. Overall, we love this place and highly recommend it.
